I'm from Charlotte, NC. Just happened to stop in as they were opening. Chris is a great person to deal with. Bought a bunch of really cool, hard to find stuff, and he shipped it to me so I didn't have to carry it all on the plane. Awesome place, I am back in town again and planning another visit

Stopped by made amends for past transgressions and differences of opinion. Bought a couple of vehicles for the layout. He still isn't the most inexpensive shop in town, but more than makes up for that in quality and selection.read more

Just as most old timey hobby shops or train stores are going the way of the dinosaur, here comes Model Railroad World. This place is a continuation of those that came before. I’m 45 this year so I’ve seen lots of them all come & go. My dad used to take me to Spoonely’s, Depew Hobby, Blasedel Hobby, the Stove Shop, Seneca Junction, K-Val, Tim’s Hobby Shop, Niagara Hobby, Field’s, & others that are all gone now. Model Train World is a classic small store where the owner greets you by your first name & you deal with him directly. Since the “soft opening” he had earlier this summer, the stock is steadily increasing. For the type of modeler that I & my son are, the place has the kind of things we like & if I was let loose off the money chain by the woman of the house, I’d easily blow the family budget there in an hour. I love, love, love HO kits, blue box, stuff, & non DCC locos. Chris also intends to get some O-Gauge going too so I’ll be back for that again. I also found a bunch of photos that I bought of local rail scenes once. Yesterday a lady came in while I was there & was promptly helped to find what she needed for a Xmas gift for her husband and treated nicely by the guys there. There’s a mix of new & old stock, assembled building kits, sets, & all different types of stuff. The only drawback for me, which is nothing against the store, is that I live an hour away so I can’t stop there as much as I would rather do if I was closer, but that’s my problem, not theirs...read more
Couldn't find Styrene sheet anywhere, so I called up Model Railroad World. When I got there, Chris cut me a sheet to my specifications on the spot. Good atmosphere, and seems like he's got some great inventory. Definitely recommend to any model makers!read more
